Welcome to Biostatistics and Data Science Lab

Dr. Chung is an assistant professor in Statistics at Soongsil University. He was a research associate at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and received Ph.D. degree in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) and MS, BS in Statistics from Seoul National University.

Currently, his research group is developing various statistical methodologies for GWAS, heritability estimation and genomic risk prediction and analyzing genomic and epigenomic data to identify causal variants and examine causal relationship between disease and other factors. As his early career, he worked for an IT company as a computer programmer and thus have programming skill in C/C++, Java, Python, R as well as parallel computing. During his doctoral and postdoctoral years, he has developed novel statistical methodologies for genome-wide association studies (GWAS), quantitative trait loci (QTL), expression QTL (eQTL) mapping and genomic risk prediction. Also, he has participated in a variety of large-scale omics projects such as identification of shared genetic architecture and analyses of methylation and metabolomics data.
